Vida Exitosa en Pareja - Successful life as a couple

El mundo moderno muchas veces nos vende nociones distorsionadas de la realidad, nos dice que somos merecedores de todo, aun cuando no hagamos el esfuerzo por conseguir lo que deseamos; nos dice que somos el centro del universo, y que los demás fueron creados para servirnos; nos dice que la satisfacción de nuestros deseos y placeres es lo más importante, aun si se logra a expensas de la felicidad de otros.
No es de extrañar entonces que esta distorsión haya calado hasta el núcleo de la sociedad, la familia, y que la noción de amor incondicional, amor que es paciente, que todo lo espera, que se goza en la verdad, que da la vida por la persona amada, también se haya deformado bajo la presión de los medios y del ritmo acelerado en que vivimos.
Hacer un alto en el camino para enfocarnos, para bajar la velocidad con la nos dirigimos a la decadencia de la familia y los matrimonios, y  re-descubrir el plan de Dios en nuestras vidas se hace pues imperativo.
A principios de Marzo, la Oficina de Ministerio Hispano de la Arquidiócesis de Mobile y el grupo de parejas voluntarias comprometidas organizaron un taller para parejas destinado a restaurar algunos de los elementos de la vida de parejas que se han ido perdiendo. El taller fue facilitado por el diacono Juan Carlos Urquijo, de la Arquidiócesis de Miami y por su esposa, la señora Maria Del Carmen Urquijo.
Durante todo un fin de semana las 25 parejas que asistieron al taller tuvieron la oportunidad de compartir, disfrutar deliciosas comidas y dedicarse tiempo solo para ellos sin las distracciones del diario vivir. 
La pareja Urquijo ofreció un taller único en su clase con charlas y actividades que parecerían hasta cierto punto un "juego", pero cuyo propósito fue el de poner a las parejas en contacto con áreas intimas de su identidad como personas y como parejas.
El fin de semana concluyo con la celebración de la Santa misa, celebrada por el Padre Marcos Sanchez, S.T. donde las parejas tuvieron la oportunidad de renovar sus votos matrimoniales, porque solo con la presencia y el amor de Dios en medio de los matrimonios se puede lograr una vida exitosa en pareja.



The modern world often sells us distorted notions of reality. It tells us that we deserve everything, even when we don't make the effort to get what we want. It tells us that we are the center of the universe, and that others were created to serve us. It tells us that the satisfaction of our desires and pleasures is the most important thing, even if it comes at the expense of the happiness of others.
It is not surprising then that this distortion has penetrated to the core of society, the family, and that the notion of unconditional love, love that is patient, that awaits everything, that rejoices in the truth, that gives life for the loved one, has also been deformed under the pressure of the media and the fast pace in which we live.
It is therefore imperative to take a break to focus, to slow down the speed with which we are heading toward the decline of the family and marriages, and rediscover God's plan in our lives.
In early March, the Archdiocese of Mobile Office of Hispanic Ministry and an engaged couples group organized a workshop for other couples aimed at restoring some of the missing elements of couples' lives. The workshop was facilitated by Deacon Juan Carlos Urquijo of the Archdiocese of Miami, and his wife, Mrs. Maria Del Carmen Urquijo.
For an entire weekend, the 25 couples who attended the workshop had the opportunity to share, enjoy delicious meals and spend time just for themselves without the distractions of daily life.
The Urquijos offered a one-of-a-kind workshop with talks and activities that under the guise of a "game," put couples in touch with intimate areas of their identity as individuals and as couples.
The weekend concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Marcos Sanchez, S.T. where couples had the opportunity to renew their wedding vows, for only with the presence and love of God in the midst of marriages can a successful life as a couple be achieved.
