Submitted by Sisters of Providence Sister Suzanne Buthod, who served for 11 years with the Edmundite Southern Missions in Selma, died Feb. 28 at the age of 92.
Sister Suzanne was a Sister of Providence for 73 years. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on Feb. 2, 1949 and received the name Sister Mary Judith. She professed Final Vows on Aug.15, 1956.
Before arriving in Selma, Sister Suzanne ministered for 23 years in education at Indiana and Illinois schools. She also served as a pastoral associate at parishes in Indianapolis.
Sister Suzanne arrived in Selma in 1988 and retired in 2000.
Sister Suzanne is survived by nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers, James Buthod and John Buthod and a sister, Harriet (Sissie) McCool. A wake and Mass of Christian Burial were scheduled for March 9. Burial was to be in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence in Indiana.
