Winners of the St. Philip Neri annual Easter Egg Hunt were Lucille Washer and Mike Collins. Little Flower Holy Name Society President, Stimpson Chapell and Golden Age Club president Bill Murphy presented Sister Margaret Mary of the Little Sisters of the Poor a check for the Building Fund. 25 Years Ago The Serra Club of Mobile selected Fr. Paul G. Zoghby as their priest of the year. The presentation was made at St. Mary’s Parish, Mobile, where Fr. Zoghby served as associate pastor and was presented by Dr. Adrien Bodet, Mobile Serran Club president and Paul Halliday, Jr. award chairman. Lorene T. Lami was named the new social director of Cathedral Place Apartments. The Central Alabama Laubach Literacy (C.A.L.L.) Council celebrated the renovation of the Adult Literacy Center on the ground floor of St. Jude Church. The renovation project was made possible by a $60,000 major improvement grant from the Rotary Foundation of Montgomery. Fr. Bernard James Patterson, O.S.B., a Benedictine Monk at St. Bernard Abbey, Cullman, died at the monastery. Spring Hill College presented the 1998 Ignatian Award for Community Service to Carleton Wilkins, Jr., a 1958 graduate and active member of the first class of the re-established Permanent Diaconate in the archdiocese in 1976 and was ordained in 1979, serving as president of the deacon community. More than 500 youtsh from all parts of the archdiocese attended the Archdiocesan Youth Conference at the Clarion Hotel in Mobile. They celebrated the Holy Spirit and experienced ways to let the Holy Spirit guide their lives and enliven their faith.
