Mrs. Geraldine Perry, principal of St. Jude High School, announced the volunteers of the year were teachers Matt Galde, Tom Bradshaw and Scott Morgan, all graduates from Notre Dame participating in volunteer teaching programs.
During the McGill-Toolen annual Advent Mass, Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb surprisingly announced two new school holidays, Jan. 2 and 3, celebrating McGill-Toolen’s patron saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton.
Pat Dumas, heart and soul of the CYO, was recognized by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb for 20 years of faithful service. More than 1,100 participants at the Toy Bowl Banquet spontaneously displayed their love with a standing ovation.
James R. “Bob” Langley, who is in his eighth year of teaching Social Studies at McGill-Toolen was selected by the student body as the Teacher of the Year at the faculty appreciation luncheon.
St. Martin Parish in Troy, dedicated the new church windows. The dedication was presided over by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb. Also concelebrating were: Fr. Paddy Gallagher, Dean of the Dothan Deanery, Frs. Bob Fulton and Hugh Maguire, former pastors; and current pastor Fr. David Tokarz.
