Let go, and let God! That is a New Year’s resolution we should all embrace.
Dependence on God is one of the fundamental principles of good stewardship. However, our human pride and desire for control make this a difficult task. When we are faced with challenges in our life, we don’t hesitate to turn to God for help. Letting go of the worry and depending on Him completely to pull us through the challenge is not easy. This is difficult because of our human nature. We have to remind ourselves that everything we have is a gift from God and it is ultimately God who is in charge of our lives, not us. Having the faith to Let go and Let God guide us is exactly what we are called to do in living our life as a good Christian steward. We are reminded throughout scripture that God will take care of us as long as we are doing our part.
“Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” – Proverbs 16:3.
In Proverbs, we are promised great rewards as long as we follow God’s commands without exception. His message is clear. He did not say follow some of my commandments or trust in me when the going gets tough. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.”
We can and should always depend on God. After all, He blessed us with every gift, talent, treasure, friend, loved one, opportunity and possession in our lives. It is our responsibility to honor Him with each of these gifts.
Proverbs 3:9-10 tells us to, “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with first fruits of all your produce; Then will your barns be filled with plenty, with new wine your vats will overflow.”
The sooner we realize that everything we have is from God, the sooner we are able to be good stewards giving to God first because we can depend on Him fully. So this year let’s all try to Let go and Let God!
